My first mistake was buying these 12X50s from a major outdoor outfitter with headquarters in Sidney, Nebraska instead of from Amazon.Com. My second mistake was ignoring several negative reviews because of a SALE. The sucker snake bit me once again. The left side of the first pair would not focus at all. I returned them. The replacement pair came several days later. Only a small circle within the range-of-view of each side would focus. The focus spot in the right side was at 12 o'clock. The focus spot on the left side was at 6 o'clock. They'd probably work great for Jack Elam. It wasn't worth the hassel to go through the return process for a second time, so I tossed them behind the seat of an old farm truck. I might seperate the halves and have two weak telescopes. Here's the real troubling part: The major online retailer refused to post my repeated 1-Star-review attempts. They explained that using the term Caveat Emptor and mentioning other brands broke their posting rules. I think 1-Star ratings hinder their sales. Granted, the other powers in the Barska line might work fine, but I'm batting zero for two. Amazon.Com has never rejected one of my bad reviews on a product. They have even complimented my unbiased and honest evaluations and urged me to continue. It is easy to see why Amazon.Com's profits are soaring while many of their competetors are sinking. In today's marketplace, Amazon.Com is the best friend that an online consumer can have.
