"Does what it says it will" 2009-10-01
By John D. Key (Anchorage Alaska)
I compare this rangefinder to the others I have owned and it is a great improvement. Clear enough to look through and actually see something. Is it as clear as a good set of binoculars? No. But it sure will read a good range. I use my range finders while I hunt, and when I find an area that looks promising, I break out the rangefinder and range various objects so I know how far a shot will be should my Game appear there, or at least close to there. Rocks, trees. I always get a good reading. Even in the rain. And the battery life is ok. I always carry a spare just in case, but have never needed it. If you are looking for a good rangefinder, look no further. If you are looking for a Rangefinder to replace your binoculars, I'd recommend something else.

 "Leupold Rxb-IV review" 2009-05-30
By mizumoto (roanoke, va.)
This is my first experience purchasing a Leupold product. I am not disappointed with the quality which Leupold's reputation puts forth. I was disappointed with the design concept as far as binoculars are concerned. I was hoping to combine the ideas of having a binocular with a rangefinder purchased at a reasonable price. It would save weight and reduce bulk having the two functions together, especially when humping over a mountain ridge with additional hunting and/or hiking/camping gear weight. When first pulled from the box, it was not a lightweight item. The rangefinder works out of the right eye piece only. The focus requires you to remove each respective hand to focus that side's eyepiece separately, instead of a central focusing button or knob. It became clear that there was no advantage over a monocular design. In fact the aforementioned characteristics made it an expensive disadvantage to choose this binocular model over a monocular design. [...]. I hope this helps others!
