I purched this red dot scope for a 9mm carbine since the first red dot I owned was a Tasco 40mm and it works perfectly to this day after 12 years. This unit however, is not the same quality. The red dot turns off with the slightest bump, not to mention recoil. I cleaned up all the contacts in the battery chamber and it helped but did not compleatly eliminate the issue. i will not buy anouther with out testing it first in person at point of sale.

It's a decent sight. Easily mounts, option of red/green (I prefer green myself), battery seems to last pretty long. Mounted on a flat top AR15, the sight is in alignment with the MaTech rear flip up sight which is nice.
After about 900 .223 rounds however, when I try to use some brightness levels (on the red side), both the red and green dots are visible. Not a big deal, I can still shoot fine, but it's a sign that things are starting to go haywire internally. Never been dropped or wet or anything.
Eventually I expect I'll have to purchase another sight. I imagine this is great for airsoft and things like that, but if you spent $800+ on your firearm, don't put a cheap sight on it. When it fails I'll probably deal with ironsights for awhile until I can pony up the cash for a ~$400 Eotech.

I purchased this for my Remington 870 12 ga. I hunt whitetails at short range (30-100 yards), and wanted something that was a step up from open sights.
This sight (not a scope - there is no magnification) does a great job for what I need. It is an excellent solution for those of us hunting in a dark blind where you may not be able to see open sights in certain light conditions. Target acquisition is quick and easy because of the lack of magnification - I don't bird hunt, but this would probably be a nice upland bird sight as well.
If the dot is blurry, you've got the intensity set too high. Back it off a click or two and it makes a world of difference. The dot has to have some width in order for you to see it.
If your target will be at a distance over 100 yards, this is NOT the sight for you. Search out a true scope with magnification, rangefinding, and mil-dots to increase your accuracy.
I'm not sure how other reviewers had a problem mounting this to a Weaver base. Mine bolted right up to a Weaver-brand mount, Weaver part number 48340. It will clamp on to the base in the same manner Weaver-brand scope rings do.
So far, I've put 15 rounds of Remington 3" mag Copper Solid sabots through the 870 with this sight mounted, and it shows no sign of losing accuracy or falling apart. These rounds have serious recoil, and the sight seems durable enough for the task.

Pros - This sight is easy to mount, comes with see thru lens covers, and is allot larger than the 30mm model.
-It holds up the the recoil of my AR15 so it meets my requirements for durability.
-I can see through the red dot scope with my flip up iron sights. I would prefer to mount the scope 1/4-1/2" higher to improve the sight picture through the iron sights.
-The body of the sight is about the same width as my AR15. Any larger and the red dot would take a beating.
Cons - There are only 5 settings for each color of dot (red or green). In bright sunlight, you have to use the highest setting to see the dot clearly. The first setting would only be useable in night or very dark conditions.
- The on/off is also the brightness knob.
- There isn't an auto off feature so don't forget to turn it off or your battery will die.
-At 50m, the dot size is roughly 2" in size on the target. This means that at 200m you probably wouldn't see an 8" target because the dot is too big.
