"Birding with the Ranger, best bang for the buck!" 2010-01-25
By K. Black (washington)
Purpose of using Bin's: Birding

I bought these binoculars after researching/testing out many different models. I might have bought Monarch X's 10.5x45, Vortex Viper 10x42, or these bin's by Eagle Optics. After trying them all out, these seemed to be the best bang for the buck. As the others are quite expensive and the Rangers rival with, compete with, and/or are on the same level of quality as the Vipers and the Monarchs. I also took in consideration the better lifetime warranty and warranty service provided by Eagle Optics compared to the Nikon's 1 year warranty. Further note that as I am a college student, I naturally gravitated towards the cheaper pair. (I definitely think the Viper's are most likely worth the extra money, though.)

My first "fair" pair of binoculars were Nikon Action's 10-22zoom x 50. I compared the Nikon Action to the Ranger. I was looking a California Gull across the river my first day of testing the bins. Even zooming with the Nikon Actions, I was able to better identify the gull with the Rangers. (Of course, zooming causes light intake to diminish.)

I know the comparison is not a very efficacious illustration of the Ranger's quality. Nevertheless, considering the price and the power of the binoculars, they are worth every dollar.

I have read a review of the 10x42's recommending the binoculars after a week or so of research [...]. So here is the second review reiterating the point, that even after copious amounts research and testing these binocular's or the 10x42's are assured to deliver the best bang for the buck.

Peace,

Kevin

 "A Superb Value." 2008-09-19
By H. Moro (Mount Kisco, NY)
The very afternoon I purchased this binocular, I was at a hawkwatch gazing up at Broad-winged Hawks flying overhead. As dusk closed in and cold, gusty winds pushed the hawks ever higher, I was still clearly picking out distant kettles. Such clarity!

You can buy better binoculars, of course. But at this price, you'd be hard-pressed to find a roof prism binocular with better optics. Weighing only 27 ounces, they're surprisingly easy to handle given the size of the objective lenses. I recommend these! (For other kinds of birding, please consider the equally excellent Eagle Optics Ranger SRT 8x42 Binoculars.)

UPDATE: When I sent my binocular to Eagle Optics for repair, I was surprised to receive them back one week later with all problems corrected. The lifetime warranty on this binocular is top grade!
