I was surprised to see the negative review. I have had mine for 15 years, and they are my favorite for "grab and go" astronomy. The views are expansive and sharp. No eye strain. People "oooh" and "aaah" when they look trough them for the first time. They can be heavy for some people to hold, but I have no problem. Often I use a parallelogram mount, which makes it easy for me to center objects and lower them to kid's height without changing the aim.



Perhaps the other reviewer got a bad pair or perhaps the build quality has declined over time. I suggest contacting Celestron. If yours are really out of collimation, I think Celestron will replace them.

The optics used in this binocular is acceptable but the collimation sucks, uncomfortable on you eyes no matter what adjustment you do. Strong construction but obviously "made in china" finish. Too expensive for such quality. Not recommended.

I bought this to supplement my 5" scope. Used to view the ISS when it went over my house. Good quality, but hard to hold steady.

Binoculars are excellent for beginners to amateur astronomy - they cost less than telescopes and they give you a great deal of freedom to scan the sky. I bought these for this reason and I've been very happy with them. The magnification is low enough that holding them in your hands doesn't produce too much jitter, but it's high enough to bring out celestial objects you wouldn't see unaided. I've seen galaxies, double stars, and Jupiter's moons with these.



The only downside is that the bodies of the lenses are very bulky and close together, so screwing in a tripod adapter is awkward and takes a few tries before it's in all the way.
