 "Good for the price" 2010-06-08
By Dannyb (PA USA)
I've been using one of these for a while now as a range spotting scope. The good is that you get a decent magnification with an expected amount of distortion over most of the zoom range. The bad is that the distortion at maximum magnification makes interpreting the image almost impossible - especially in low contrast situations. Then again, you usually get what you pay for, and this gives a fair amount more than I expected.

"Affordable scope with excellent performance" 2007-03-12
By J. Middleton (UK)
I recently bought this scope and used it for spotting wildfowl on the far side of the reservoir. It focusses clearly, up to the maximum magnification enabling identification of distant birds on the water, even in low light. The field of view is very good, too.Obviously the image loses some luminosity at higher magnifications, but that is physics. I used it on a tripod, or just propped on a parapet and that worked fine. Presumably the scopes costing around a thousand GBP have better coating, but this one compares well with my recollection of looking through one of them. I quickly got used to switching from the 6-25x to 25-100x modes. Very happy with it and would recommend.

"You can do better than Yukon" 2006-03-26
By John (LA)
The Yukon 6-100x100 is better priced than equivalent spotting scopes, yet this item is not worth any price. The Yukon spotting scope has multiple problems. The most annoying is the view lense. One has to keep their head unnaturally still to keep the image in sight. Once the user achieves finding the image they need to use three controls to zoom and focus, two for the zoom options and then focus. With the weight of the front lense keeping the scope on target while selecting the zoom and focus, only exceptionally well disciplined people will be able continue to keep their head and the unit steady so as not to loose the image in the view lense.

For those who visit the Yukon website, it shows some incredible capabilities of a spotting scope, but it can't be the the Yukon 6-100x100. There is no plausible way it can magnify as demonstrated. The Yukon company should be investigated for false advertising.

 "Cool" 2004-10-25
By John
I was at the range this weekend and using my buddy Dave's scope. This was really cool. When shooting at a 400 yards i could see my shots crystal clear. I ordered one just now. I wish it came with a full size tripod for my porch but nothing is perfect. This is a good scope though.

"Great for the Burbs, The Moon or West Texas" 2004-10-06
By Steve Demko (Houston, TX USA)
I originally got the Yukon scope because of the price and power and figured why not. I have purchased a 125x binocular once that was a total piece of junk and was skeptical that a scope of 100x power that costs less than $1,500 could be that great. I was in for a big surprise. I ordered the unit without ever seeing it in person and when I open the box the way the scope looked was pretty modern looking. It was different from any scope I have ever seen. The unit is much larger in person than I thought but that is because it has a really big front main lens and a smaller front one. I took it outside to view some things in my back yard and once I figured out the dial on the side changed from a easy to manage 6-25 power scope to a very high magnification from 25-100 like they said on the box. It was amazing. The lower setting allowed me to see thing so clearly and close up even if they things I was seeing were close. I was looking at a neighbor's car down the street and I could read the expiration date of state inspection sticker as clear as if I was 2 inches from it. I showed a friend of mine the scope and he was pretty impressed too. His boss has some land where we used it for watching deer going to the feeder so we don't have to scare them off. I tried it to look at the moon last weekend when the moon was almost full it that was pretty cool. I have never used an astronomical telescope before so I have nothing to compare it to but the moon filled the entire viewing and was very clear and I have never seen it better in a photo in a magazine. Although it is not small it did everything I needed and was not too heavy. I highly recommend this scope to anybody especially if you want the real deal and not get ripped off by paying out the noise for a lesser scope.

"A good unit for the price" 2010-03-28
By K. Champ (Las Vegas, Nv)
I've used this scope a few times now. When trying to see bullet hits on paper it will work fine for you out to a few hundred yards. When shooting steel or other targets it is sufficient out to around 500 yards on smaller targets but I have used it to spot and confirm a 1 mile shot from a 50 BMG on a 18" x 24" target. The accessory package of carrying case and small tripod are good quality. The glass is middle of the line which is what I would expect for the price. Overall it's worth the price and a little better than similarly priced spotting scopes.

 "good product" 2009-12-15
By coyotes beware (SHELDON, IA, US)
I have been using this scope for about 2 weeks for spotting coyotes and deer. I have no problems picking them out a mile away. I was able to pick out a coon laying along a fence row at a half mile without a problem. I thought I would have problems with the lens fogging up, with temps at -5 this morning, but haven't. I have had nothing but success with this scope.

 "Christmas gift" 2010-01-27
By Kristina Brendel (Ipswich, MA)
This item was purchased as a Christmas gift for my husband. He wants to be able to watch the wildlife near our house at night. He absolutely loves it. He feels he can see clearly for long distances. It might not be the fanciest model out there, but the price reflects that. It certainly does what we want it to.

"Overall, it is a good product" 2010-01-09
By unowhoseattle (lynnwood, wa United States)
This is a good product & I am happy with it overall. The focuser is somewhat loose & feels cheap, but the image can be focused to a sharp picture. The optics are suprisingly good. I don't think it would be realistic to expect better optics for the price. In town, with some residual light, at 100' without using the illuminator you can easily see and identify people that would otherwise be completely hidden from view.

The IR illuminator works great, almost too well. Don't expect to use the illuminator if you don't want to be seen. It is clearly visible by anyone you point it at. If you aren't going to be sneaking around it won't matter, but don't expect to sneak up on anyone in a pitch black warehouse. This would be a much better product if you had the ability to run the illuminator at reduced output, or if there was an optional clip-on IR filter that blocked all visible light output. Even if this reduced IR output by 50%, it would still probably be fine.

The design of the lens cap storage slot seems somewhat clumsy & might actually increase the chance of losing the cap. I think tying a string on it, or putting it in your pocket would keep it safer. At least if you drop it you have night vision to help find it.

The NV will continue to function for several minutes after you switch all power off. This can be confusing at first because the power light will be off, but it still functions. If I can figure out how to add an IR filter to the illuminator, this thing will rock.

Got this item shipped very fast. Works as advertised but the instructions say it is "water resistant" not water proof as listed in the ad. The batteries it uses are a little expensive. Overall very happy with this item
