I just purchased a pair of used 15x56 Swarovski binos. I have hunted with Steiner binos for years and never had an issue. When the Swarovski's arrived at my office I removed them from the packing and started viewing the neighborhood from the 7th floor of my office. I was seeing buildings more than a mile away and reading the entrance signs. Unbelieveable! I cant imagine how a bino could be any clearer or more in focus. As a negative, these binos are a bit heavy for a long hike in the woods, but they will permit a very clear view of the areas outside of a blind or from a hillside with a 400 yard view of a valley floor where the muy grandes chase the girls.

Not a single user-review of the Swarovski 15X56 binoculars? Someone is going to have to step up. I don't have a clue how to write product reviews, but in this case, anything is better than nothing.



I use binoculars professionally. I keep a pair of the tiny Swarovski opera-glass binoculars in 8X just for stuffing into my shirt pocket on arduous hikes when I'm pretty sure I will not even use them. Usually I fish them out two or three times during a hike to see just what the heck is that unidentifiable something way up on some distant escarpment. These are binoculars we endure rather than enjoy. They provide only the most primitive function, but they do it without being a burden.



I maintain a pair of Swarovski 8.5X42 EL binoculars for boat-duty. When I'm bouncing around in the waves trying to make out whether that distant bird is a ringbill-gull or an osprey, this pair of binoculars is the ticket with relatively low magnification and with that big open space betweeen the barrels for easy grabbing in a bucking boat. My only complaint is the focus-wheel. I suspect most of us, like me, are constantly tuning the focus as we view. The focus mechanism better work so well we don't even have to think about it. Unfortunately, that is not the case with my 8.5X42 ELs. To appreciate it, imagine a piece of pvc pipe with a slightly loose coupling, greased with Vaseline, so the coupling is free to spin and function as a focus-wheel. Some days the focus feels a little gritty, and other days, maybe depending on the temperature, the wheel turns with a little series of micro-shudders, as if the Vaseline can't decide whether to skate or grab. I've even had days when the focus-wheel gave a series of little pop sounds as I turned it, as though some air bubbles were trapped in the Vaseline. The focus-function on my ELs is a vexing and sorry design-failure. Once I'm focused, the optics are just fine, as we would expect from Swarovski.



If I expect to do any rifle-shooting on a given day, I take my Leica 10X42 Geovid binoculars with integral rangefinder function. These Leicas are a first class instrument in every respect. I can't think of a single thing to complain about. There is just nothing like scoping out a target and getting the range simultaneously. The Geovid binoculars just make rifle-shooting so simple.



Specialty tasks aside, my everyday workhorse binoculars are my favorites -- my Swarovski 15X56 SLCs. The majority of the time, these big binos are the best tool for my uses. They live in a gear-bag on the truck seat right next to me. If I don't expect to use them for several hours, the big rubber lens-caps go on and the SLCs are dropped into a vertical compartment in the bag. Most of the time, I keep a soft camo-hat on top of the gear-bag, and the big SLCs are rested on top of the camo-hat with lens-covers off, ready to grab at a moment's notice. I estimate I grab these big binos for some random little task maybe forty times in a single workday. I bought them from Bear Basin in 2006 for around $2,200. Swarovski has designed some little divot-holes into the bottom of the barrels to make them a little more ergo-friendly. The divot-holes seem to be a design success. I've worn those areas shiny from handling over my four or five years of usage.



I find myself straining for something good to say about the big Swarovski 15X56 binoculars. Assuming you are in good health, what superlatives can you offer on the excellent function of your liver and kidnes? So it is with these big, beautiful binoculars. They make a first rate effort to help you see what you want to see, and they do it without a hint of vexation or struggle. You don't have to fight them; they make everything easy. With a bit of daily practice, you spot something in the distance and swoop up the big SLCs and come right on target the first time, every time. I can use them freehand, as with any binoculars, but you learn to bump up against the window frame or tree limb out of respect for the great magnification. I carry a leather sandbag rest in the truck for a really careful, or really long look at something.



Once you come on target, the focusing is thoughtless and effortless, and I doubt any other binocular choice you could have made would give you such a good look at the target as will these 15X56 Swarovskis. I often use them to count roosting cormorants deep into the gloaming. The 15X56s see in the dark. You will almost never encounter other users with such powerful binoculars. This fact may engender fear that there must be something negative about so much magnification. Maybe so, but I have not found out what it is yet. These are tough, workhorse binculars. I've dropped them and I've let the dust build up on them for months before cleaning. I do not baby them. For me they are simply a tool -- a most excellent tool. One evening I worked with my boss, whom I seldom see, down on the big river. The subject of binoculars came up. Neither of us knew in advance what the other used. It turns out we both use the Swarovski 15X56 SLC.

This item is terrible. Shoddy shoddy shoddy. Cheap cheap cheap. In another review, somebody claimed this item was completely made of plastic. While that person is not 100% correct, I can totally understand why you might think it's entirely plastic because this tripod IS 90% plastic. Indeed, the others reviews that respond are correct in saying it's NOT 100% plastic. Indeed the legs ARE made of thin aluminum but seriously, ALL of the important parts (you know, the parts that move, the knobs you turn, the gearbox or even the locking mechanism) are 100% PLASTIC.



The knobs are tight and difficult to turn at all, let alone smoothly, which defeats the entire purpose of this tripod. Honestly, I don't know how this item is useful for spotting anything. It's so difficult to even get it to turn or angle up at all. Everything that E. Villegas "photograframer" says in his review is spot on, except I wouldn't even give this thing the 2-stars that he did.



If you've ever seen those $1-store 6" tall mini tabletop tripods that are mass produced in Hong Kong and given away in ebay auctions as part of a "photo package", you'll understand exactly what the quality of this item is. This is just a bunch of poorly molded plastic that's been screwed together around three aluminum legs.



I rarely post reviews on Amazon, but this item is so cheap and poorly made and has SO many 5-star and 4-star reviews that I had to come post a reality check. I wish I hadn't given so much creedence to the high praise it gets in other reviews here. I sent this thing back the day after I got it. If you want a small tabletop tripod to hold something steady, I guess this would suit you fine, but if you actually wanted to put a scope or camera on this and look though a lens to try and sight something, look somewhere else.

The tripod is very light and portable. I'm using it mainly with a Leupold Golden Ring 27X spotting scope while shooting prone. In that application it is wonderful. The tripod I had before was similar in size and capability but was three pounds heavier. But because of it's light weight, the Celestron is not as stable if you bump it but overall a great buy and it is one of my goto pieces of kit in my drag bag.

This is for a spotting scope, but as I suspected the screw threads are the same as most SLR cameras such as the Nikon D series 40 50 60 70 80 90 and Canons. This is great for nature photos because it has the micro adjustment knobs. Just set it down, tighten the height to mid and do your fine height and side to side with the rotation knobs. Pick it up, collapse the legs and it is light enough to walk around on the camera.

First, I have to deal with some nonsense from other reviews:

- this tripod is not all plastic. The legs and center column are aluminum and the mounting hardware is metal. It's a mostly metal tripod with some plastic fittings.

- it is explicitly designed for the C65 and C70 spotting scopes, both of which weigh 2lbs or less. One reviewer knocked it for not supporting his C90, which weighs _more than twice as much_. This is like being disappointed when an Indy car goes faster than your sedan.



I have used this tripod for astronomical viewing with my C70. It vibrates when bumped, but the vibrations die out in 2-3 seconds, which is acceptable for an inexpensive tabletop tripod and better than some cheap full-size tripods I've used. Surprisingly, it is no less sturdy with the center column extended. The slo-mo controls actually work and with zero slop or backlash, which is almost unbelievable at this price point.



The tripod has elevation limits, which probably won't matter for photography or daytime spotting but might for stargazing. The limits are 45 degrees if the scope is mounted as typically shown, in which case the head bumps into the altitude control, or 60 degrees if you turn the scope around, in which case the head bumps into the center column. You can exceed these limits somewhat by moving one leg inward and tilting the tripod, although this makes the tripod less stable.



For travel this thing is crazy compact. I have flown with the C70, tripod, laptop, power cord, digital camera, and several paperbacks in a small carry-on backpack.



In conclusion, this is a great little tripod for the job it was designed to do--holding spotting scopes, binoculars, and cameras that weigh less than 2lbs. If your gear weighs more, or if you can't be bothered to weigh it, find something else. As for me, I'm going to buy a second one just to use with my digital camera; it's far and away the best tabletop tripod I've found so far.

Overall, a very good binocular. It is pretty much what I expected in terms of finish, clarity and weight. The company's description is pretty accurate.



My main use will be glassing from close proximity to a vehicle; I do not intend to pack it very far. So, the weight is not too much of an issue to me, heavier even, has an advantage in keeping the sight picture from shaking too much.



For those trying to pack this unit anywhere, or even in rougher vehicle transport, the case is minimal. Not really a complaint as the marketing literature promised no more. Just a note for those budget minded hikers or bikers that want to take powerfull glass with them: Double wrap or find a better form of protection for it.



An improvement from my perspective would be twofold. First, find a way to attach the tripod adapter without having to remove a screw on cover cap. I have no doubt that I will eventually lose this cover cap over time (knowing myself as I do). Second, the included tripod is cute and small, to the point of being of questionable value for my porposes. A window adapter would be much more useable. Otherwise, a full sized tripod would probably be OK for most.



The last issue I have is related to all above. The carring case has no accomadation for the tripod adapter or tripod. So again, knowing me as I know myself, I wouldn't be too surprised to find one or both of these accessories missing at some point.



Final recommendation is pending some prolonged field time. Isn't that the real test with binoculars? A few hours looking through them will really decide their value to me.

I found these binoculars to give a clear and detailed area of focus. They are very large, but I can still use them when bird watching, although a good steady tripod should be used. I could see craters in detail on the moon and stars came into view that you could not see with the naked eye. I cannot afford the other brands but this BARSKA X Trail was well worth the money. The focus is steady and precise but the weight of the binoculars puts allot of stress on the adapter a longer and more precise screw socket would be helpful but being careful with it should keep the adapter from moving. The tripod is not very fancy but works.

I ordered this directly from Amazon, so this review applies only to the item they sell. Other sellers may sell a different item.



The adapter I received was NOT the one shown in the photo. It was in a Barska box, but the shape was different. It didn't even match the picture on the box! The "real" Barska adapter should have a T-shaped cross-section, with the crossbar on the T closest to the binoculars. Instead, the one I received had a H-shaped cross-section, like many other molded plastic adapters. The upright arm was also narrower than shown. Altogether, it was quite different. Also, the screw was too long--it bottomed out in the socket on my Barska binoculars (Yes, same brand as the adapter was supposed to be)--I wouldhave had to use some sort of washer to take up the additional length.



I don't know what happened. It's possible that Barska changed the design but didn't change the box & photo, but it's also possible that there was some sort of misrepresentation involved, perhaps on the part of the vendor who sold the adapters to Amazon.

I'm a bit disappointed with my purchase of the Baraska bino tripod adaptor. I made my purchase based heavily on the reviewer who said it felt like anodized aluminum (and/or it had a heft and texture to it that made it feel very high quality).



Well, either that review was an outright fabrication, or they didn't purchase this tripod adaptor. This thing is unmistakably made of plastic and is not textured at all and is not particularly solid. To elaborate a bit on this, it is made of hollow form plastic that is about 3-4 mm thick. It uses the extruded form to try to give it some strength but this is a cheap adaptor - It only cost 8 or 9 [..] - probably worth more like 3 or 4 but, heck, at this level it's about the same.



I wish I had purchased one of the solid aluminum adaptors which are available for under $20. This one moves and causes your binos to oscillate (as expected with plastic) if you touch your face/forehead/whatever to your bino's eye piece during viewing. Very frustrating.



Again, I guess I thought I was getting a bargain when I bought this based on the the other positive reviews, but instead I got what I paid for - oh well.

The Barska binocular tripod adaptor is sturdy and very well made. It appears to be constructed of black anodized aluminum. The rubber screw handle is over-sized for easy handling. It fits well on both my Vivitar and Slik tripods, and handles my binoculars well, the Celestron Outland LX 10x50 Waterproof Binoculars and the Bushnell Powerview 16x50 Binocular, both of which are fairly heavy. Highly recommended.

I have taken thousands of pics out the window of car, bus, van, etc. I finally decided to automate it somewhat. I plan to use this device for a lightweight Sony H2 camera in Europe. I suspect that it will travel well. It is lightweight and appears to have a good attachment. The tripod is lightweight as well, but I suspect that it will be adequate for a lightweight camera. I have not had a chance to put it to the test yet, but hope that it will perform as anticipated.

I needed a window mount for nature photos. The window function is great but the super strong and extra stable mini tripod gets used just as much. The tripod and window mount separate so you can use either or both at the same time. I've already used both mounts on my cameras, binoculars and telescopes. Both these mounts fold up to a very small package; a package that's so rugged you don't even need a carry case. Just pitch it in the glove box or backpack, it will survive rough handling. A great design, a great price and it has the famous Bushnell quality.

I like the multi-functionality of this tripod, being both a mini-tripod, and a window mount. I let my friends borrow it on their trip, and they both remarked how nice it was to be able to take pictures of themselves together, to make it look like they had friends taking the picture!



It's pretty good quality, and worth the money. Great for traveling since it's compact, lightweight, and can be transported in two pieces. The base legs stick a little though.

I purchased the Accu-Grip to use with my Canon Vixia HF S100 camcorder. There are a few things you should know about this handle and additionally how to simply customize it so it will work with your camera. A previous reviewer noted that about 1/2" behind the threaded screw mount is another, small sharp screw tip protruding up into the deck of the handle. This is indeed problematic in that it prevents the camera from sitting flush against the deck of the handle when attempting to tighten it down. Also, it's been mentioned that the threads do not line up properly with some cameras. I had the same situation and problems with the handle, however here are a couple tips that will solve the problems. There just aren't other items like this on the market, so it may be worth your while to do a simple customization of the handle. First, you'll need a simple metal file. It takes just a few minutes to carefully file down the sharp, protruding screw tip on the deck of the handle. If you do it carefully, you won't damage the rubber grip on the deck. Once filed down, that screw tip is no longer an issue. Second, I also found that at first attempts, the threads on the handle did not line up with the mounting threads on the camera. I finally found that if you hold the handle perpendicular to the camera as opposed to the proper parallel position, the threads line up fine. In this position, you can just make a half-turn to start the threading process, then turn the handle into its proper parallel alignment and the handle will tighten to the camera just fine. All in all, it works great. It was worth taking some time with it. I hope this is of some help to others.

I purchased this grip to avoid having a strap on my DSLR camera. This grip is useful, but only when you are done removing (from the inside) a tiny screw that sticks out of the grip's surface, next to the screw that attaches the grip to the camera. If you were to leave this tiny screw in place, it would damage the bottom of the camera.

You first have to remove the rubber padding, then remove the tiny screw, then figure out how to re-attach (with glue) the padding back on the grip. I have no idea why that tiny screw is there, but you cannot use this grip with the offending screw in place.

The Barska is a pistol grip that lets you hold your camcorder in a more comfortable position like the old Super 8 film cameras. My only gripe is the pointed set screw in the grip didn't line up with the alignment hole on my camcorder. It was a simple fix to remove, and the main screw still holds it tightly in place. It's simple and functional, and I'm surprised people don't use these more often.

This product works pretty well for me. Sure, I don't use it all the time but sometimes I have found it to be nice to have, like another tool in my arsenal of video equipment. Sometimes using the camera hand strap isn't what I need to record my video's so this handle is nice to have when needed. Strapped to my Sony HC62 with a fish eye lens on the camera it made the camcorder setup look like an old 8mm camcorder which I did not realize until someone came over to ask me about my camera when I was out filming and they thought I was using 8mm.



Never the less, it fits all my cameras so far just fine. The handle can be attached to to a tripod so you don't have to take it off to use a tripod for a moment and it fits my hand comfortably.



Again, I don't use it all the time but when I do, its nice to have.

This adapter is not something high tech. It just attaches the binocular to the tripod stand and it goes in the front in the middle so easy to work with. It fits and works for me or you can say that it does its job (as compared to some reviwers those who have complained for certain things). I am using on bushnell binoculars so have no issue of compatability.



One thing that I noticed is that as this adapter holds the heavy binocular from the center so the two sides tend to swing on either side while viewing (like a see saw) and the adapter screw get loose from the binocular and as my kids were using they dropped the binocular but luckily it did not break. Otherwise without a tripod it is difficult to view clearly using heavy binoculars because of slight shake/movement.

Works perfect with my Bushnell Powerview 16x50 Wide Angle Binoculars. I agree with Rima below - VERY awkward to attach and remove. Worth the $13.09 I paid for it on Amazon. The adapter works perfect, with one easy to live with flaw. Recommended.
