 "Barska burns batteries" 2009-10-20
By Jimmy Willoughby
Received the Point 'N View very quickly. Began using it right away, but had to change batteries within a few days.

Same thing happened with the second set of batteries, only lasted a few days. Overall the camera quality was ok, not a crisp picture, but not too bad for most uses. I returned the product. I'll check once in a while to see if Barska comes up with a better quality binocular/camera.

By Gerral D. Hubbard (Nashville, TN)
Really enjoying the camera. No the pictures aren't high end quality digital, but I didn't expect them to be in a binocular combo. My only surprise was that I 'assumed' I'd be getting 'sound with video' and it's just strictly video. Observed a herd of horses today and it was amazingly clear and crisp with both the binocular viewing, pictures and video. So far, so good.

WHEN WE RECEIVED THESE BINOCULARS I THOUGHT I WAS BACK IN THE 50'S. TECHNOLOGY HAS CHANGED SO MUCH, HOW COME THEY STILL MAKE THESE GIANT SIZE THINGS. I KNEW IT WAS GOING TO BE BIGGER THAN THE AVERAGE ONES, BUT THESE ARE HEAVY AND GIANT SIZE. I KEPT THEM BECAUSE I ALSO LIVE IN JAMAICA AND I WAS THERE WHEN THEY WERE DELIVERED. WHEN I GOT BACK IT WAS TO LATE TO SEND THEM BACK. I WILL HAVE TO NOW BUY SOME MORE. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY. THEY ARE ALSO NOT AS CLEAR AS I WOULD HAVE EXPECTED. BUT AGAIN LOOK AT THE PRICE. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR.

"Spotter, reading out of focus" 2009-08-31
By R. N. SINGLETON
I like the Barska binocular's. I purchased them to spot ships and tows approaching my job on a ferryboat. The veiw is good at medium to long distances, but often hard to focus at close and very far distances. Close distance is anything under 20 yards and far is anything over half a mile. They are used to read the names of the vessels approaching us. The lettering is usually 8"(tows) to over 2ft.(ships) in height.I ended up getting another pair for a co-worker and had the same problem with that pair and actually had to exchange it for another pair the focus was so bad. Overall I rate these as very good since I don't need to see anything under 20 yards with them and my max distance is under half a mile for reading the names of the vessels.

 "My Barska Story" 2009-05-28
By Jesse K (Green Bay, WI USA)
I purchased the Gladiator Zoom 10-30x-60 binoculars on a Monday after finding a great price ($29) and reading some reviews. The reviews seemed good except for the "double vision" problems. I received the binoculars Friday and promptly tested them out. I was unfortunate enough to have a pair with a double vision problem...a 2nd image up and to the left it seemed. I played with the focus and couldn't correct it so I contacted Barska support. It was near closing time for them and a rep named Sandra told me it's a common, easily fixed problem. She sent me a .pdf on how to collimate my binoculars. It required a tiny set of jewelers tools that I had to buy the next day and after tweaking with the alignments i was able to get the images aligned vertically, but there still is a double image side-by-side. I got it so that at 10x the image merge without much of a problem, but at the higher zooms the images stay in place. I've written Barska to see what else I could do 2 days ago and they have yet to respond. Also I am now receiving junk email in the email address that I had given them to send the instructions.

Overall the optics are great, The images are clear at 10x, and for zoomed in images using 1 eyepiece works fine. For the $29 price tag I think I got what I paid for but it's not worth the hassle of trying to return, paying shipping fees etc to get a different pair. Just don't give Barska an email address you use regularly.

This is not the best binoculars on the market but for the price I say they are ok. My first set had a bad case of double vision and the seller made good on the product with out a hassle (Boating Saving.com). The second set of binoculars were much better and worked fine. If it wasn't for the seller standing behind their sale (Boating Saving.com) I would not have given such a high rating.

By D. Hunsaker (Phoenix, AZ USA)
The Nikon Range Finder Carry Case is the only case I could find that protects my rangefinders without having to remove it from the case. I am actually using this case for my Bushnell Legend 1200 ARC and my Bushnell Sport 600. It fits real tight on my Legend 1200 but thats more than fine with me. It also covers the mode button on the side of my Legend 1200 but it's easy enough to push the button through the neoprene case for set up. If you wanted to you could cut out a small hole for direct contact with the mode button. I didnt feel it was necessary. The front cover is held on by a snap on the bottom and a magnet on the top. The snap on the bottom comes undone pretty easy so I felt it necessary to secure it in a way that I wouldnt lose it. I used a very small beaded chain to make sure it didn't come off unknowingly. On my Sport 600 it still is pretty snug but it's just a bit long. Maybe a 1/2" or so. I didnt find this to be an issue for me. It didnt get in the way of any readings I've tried and I've used it quite a bit. I was very happy to find a case that I could use without taking my rangefinders in and out of the case that came with it. The case that comes with my Bushnell's might work for some and they are nice but for me this is the ONLY way to go.

By mijo556
to the customer who purchased this product and stated that in a dark room, he couldn't see anything, night vision devices aren't made to let you see anything in a dark room without the aid of infra-red. yes, with the infra-red on you were able to see, but thats only because the infra-red is there for use only in poor lighting situations. on a clear night outside with the moon out and plenty of starlight, visibility is pretty good. on a cloudy night, no moon or starlight, visibility with night vision goggles isn't as good anymore. what they're designed to do is amplify the ambient light that is given off by the moon or the stars. indoors with no light source, you wont be able to see anything without using the I.R. mode.also, most civilian model night vision devices use older generation tubes, so the image probably isnt as good as it would be with newer generation tubes. if anyone would like to read more, this is the link that goes more in depth about night vision devices

the Bushnell night watch is a good toy, but nothing for serious use.

In a dark room I couldn't see anything at all with out the IR light on. No shapes, no outlines, nothing.

With the IR light on I could see pretty well in the dark. Focus is not perfectly clear, but adequate. The objective is pretty small, but I can read the label on a cereal box in complete darkness from about 25 feet away. From farther I can make out shapes and outlines.

It wasn't exactly a waste of money, but it isn't as fun or useful as I thought it would be, and in hindsight I don't think I'd buy it again.

Got this for a Fathers Day gift, he loves it!! Of course I had to take it out of the package and try it before we gave it to him, it was just as described. We could see in total darkness, the viewing field is somewhat small up close but it is sufficient to play around with. I could see my dog who was running down the yard, (about 300 or more feet)in total darkness. It is a fun binocular. My dad wanted one to see the wildlife at night at his home.

"Great combination of Power and Optical Quality" 2010-01-24
By M. Filler (Los Angeles)
I wanted a good binocular that was small, light weight, but with high optical resolution. After much research, I found the Nikon ProStaff 10 x 25 to be the best over-all compromise. It was a little more expensive than many of its competitors, and weighed a little more than I liked, but it still was the best choice. The only negative that I found it that it comes with protective lens caps for only one side of the lenses. I called Nikon about this and they said that was correct, and the lens surfaces on the other side did not need protection. I think this is wrong as every other binoculars that I have used over the years always came for a full set (4) lens caps.

OK... well i spent some hours looking for the best deal on quality, water proof binocs. Very happy with these. Sharp, bright and clear... very good eye relief.

My only complaints are how the neck strap attaches (low tech but secure) and the way the lens covers slip on is not very secure... more of an after thought.

Really though, nice rubberized outer skin, solid construction, nice heavy nylon soft case and great price. The other thing that sold me was the Nikon 25 year no fault warranty. Waterproof too for those James Bond or outdoorsy types. %^)

"For what it is, I recommend it" 2009-08-19
By ME
These binoculars are not the best in comparison to others that are more expensive. However, for the size, weight, waterproof, fogproof and function I recommend the Prostaff ATB ! I enjoy hiking in almost all weather conditions and that means that I must bring water and proper layer clothing in my small pack. I have enough weight to worry about and having heavy binoculars was not for me. I didn't want to sacrifice reliability just to have less weight, because I needed a waterproof binocular that wouldn't fill up with water during rain or snow. I love these binoculars- they are perfect for me and I don't feel their weight when I bring them; it fits in my cargo pant pockets!

When I traveled into other states, I brought them with me along with my camera. I attached the case to the camera bag and walked all over the city and parks without them getting in the way. Over one year later, so far I've not had a problem with the binocular itself except witht the lens cap. The lens cap is cheap, but that is all- the binoculars themselves are of good quality. I strongly recommend this paticular brand or model, if you're looking for something that is reliable and not highly expensive. For the price and function they work more than just fine, just take care of them.

 "Nikon ProStaff Binoculars" 2009-03-07
By AAN (USA)
Light weight though clear and powerful enough for my primary use, birding. The only drawback so far is the stiff, double lens cap. It is not connected to the binoculars, though can be clipped onto the neck strap when not in use. It tends to get in the way, and doesn't always stay attached whether covering the lenses or on the strap. This is a small annoyance for an otherwise great instrument at a great price.

The binoculars are great but the lens caps are not. There were no lens caps for the objective lenses and the connected eyepiece caps broke apart upon first use and do not stay on. I just keep the binoculars in their case.

Not much to say except this thing is very, very bright, and the batteries last a fair while. I like to take it and a few extra batteries on camping trips to use as book light and flashlight.

It's not waterproof. I wound up getting soaked, and this thing gave out instantly. Next time out, I'll use a baggie.

However, it can take a fair amount of dropping and banging and still keep working. (I'm kind of hard on my stuff.) An all around good product.

"This works with my Mac..." 2009-01-19
By Matt Martinez (Oklahoma City, OK United States)
These binoculars have pretty decent resolution. Just a little too quick to go into battery saving sleep mode when trying to spot and take a good shot. The magnification of the pictures isn't exactly the same magnification as the binocular, but it is very close! After taking multiple shots in multishot 3 photo mode, the device resets itself to the default single photo setting. This causes you to memorize keystrokes to get back to the multishot setting in order to get additional shots if you are still spotting with the viewfinder. It's not difficult though, just a hair inconvenient. Recording video with this device gives surprising clear results. The video is about 8 seconds worth for each shot. During playback, the video is a little fast on the playback speed but still very viewable. Again, after shooting video, the device resets back to single photo mode. I don't use the included software to view the pictures. I just hook this up to a USB port and my Mac (and Windows computer at work) reads it as an external thumb drive. I just click through the folders and I can view the images or movies. There is no special USB cord for these binoculars. It uses the standand mini-USB so you can have multiple cords if needed. For the price, this is a great cheap thrill. Several of my friends are buying some after seeing mine and the quality they produce.

I just started the hobbie of bird watching, so my husband bought me these as a gift. I have to say that I get wonderful clarity, but the photo aspect is lacking, but I'm willing to over look that and really didn't expect much in that department. I would have to say I would get a cheaper pair and lose the photo/video part, until Bushnell can impove on it.
