 "Great for the price" 2009-03-03
By T. Morgan (Oregon, USA)
For a budget microscope this device is pretty darn good but the added functionality of a useable 8x20 monocular is pretty cool too. I needed a cheap portable desk miscroscope for examining components and this will work for me just fine. As for the lack of a case? well I used a tubular pencil case that I found and that's good enough to keep it clean when it's assembled.

 "OK" 2008-02-15
By Dan Ai (Edgewater, NJ United States)
Handy little product for those who have a need for such a thing. Not fully a microscope (too small, no light source) and not fully a scope (again, too small) but perfect for lightweight camping/hiking. However, you will have to make a case for it because none is supplied (a cloth bag would have been nice). Instructions for usage are inadequate.

A great peace of equipment for the price. Would highly recommend for anyone needing a portable scope. Solid construction. The only drawback is does not come with a case.

"Be the envy of all the kids on your block." 2006-12-26
By John Hecht (Atlanta, GA USA)
I bought this as a present from my adult brother and he got a big kick out of it. He tells me all the kids in the extended family don't want to leave it alone. Also that it seems nicely made and works well.

 "lite/easy/compact" 2009-11-19
By solocanoe (fort smith, ar)
I have, for years, carried a small set of binoculars on my canoe/camping trips. I got the smallest, lightest set I could and they still were heavy and took up a 5" x 1" x 3" space in my pack. Recently I got the idea from a fellow solo-tripper on the monocular. Wow! what a difference it made for me. This is about the size of my thumb!

I found a webpage (somewhere) that told me what I wanted to know - what power to get??? The old binoculars were 10xsomething...but I learned - for what I want - I want low power (less shaky images in low power with a monocular) - so I am really glad I learned that. this is plenty powerful for my needs:

checking for portage trials from the water, looking at wild animals, looking ahead at water routes, etc...this is just about perfect. I got the orange so I can find it in a hurry from my pack and the small size means it also fits nicely in my PFD pocket. all in all I really like it.

"Great product, especially for the price" 2009-09-30
By M. Walker (Pleasanton, CA)
This is a great little scope. It fits in my pocket (or on my belt with the case). Very clear and sharp images. I've used it for watching football, marching bands, birds, seals, boats, whatever. It focuses easily, and I can use it with my glasses or without (which is a definite plus for me).

This scope is perfect for people that want something small to carry around, so they'll actually use it.

 "Decent" 2009-04-04
By The Gray Ghost (Houston, TX)
The Brunton Echo Pocket Scope Monocular is pretty decent for the money. My only complaint would be that the wrist strap is a real pain to attach. So much so after 10 minutes I decided I did not need it that bad. Other than that it does what it is supposed to and the construction seems pretty rock solid.

 "Light weight Basic Monocular" 2009-07-20
By Maaz Gazdar (England)
I used the Brunton Monocular on a recent trip with my nieces and nephews. It is simple to use, and they enjoyed the clear view from it.

This is not a serious monocular in any sense, but it's good for days out when you just want to see something a bit more clearly without having to walk all the way there.

Its lightweight and compact size means you can keep it anywhere without really feeling it.

 "7 x 18 Echo" 2009-07-15
By C. Cox
For the price, this was such a good deal. It's only a 7x, but it really brings things into focus that otherwise could barely be seen. We live on a ranch and it has saved me a lot of miles in checking on animals. So much easier to carry than the 7x binoculars (which never got carried), it's about the same size as a 2oz hand samitizer bottle, and comes with a nice little pouch. My husband perfers a higher magnification, but I tend to have a little hand shake so this is just right.

 "Excellent for Beginner Ninjas" 2009-06-18
By Bespeckled Egg (Hollywood, yo)
Perfect in that it is absolutely small, good clarity, very light, seems durable enough and super cheap for pretty freakin decent quality!

I got this to toss into my messenger bag and I had at the same time purchased a slightly larger, supposedly better (and more pricey) second monocular (i wanted to slide one into a slim pocket in the messenger bag) and found this cheaper and smaller monocular to be extraordinarily the better of the two.

You will totally be stunned when you realize you got it for so cheap.

"It does it's job, especially for the price." 2009-06-12
By Ford Rivers (Forest City, Montana, USA)
This review is for the Brunton Echo 7x18 monocular.

I'm the inventory manager in a large manufacturing company, and we have hundreds of materials organized in racks up to 15 feet in height.

Every pallet and box has a label with part numbers and specifications.

I used to have to climb on a ladder to read labels and verify materials, or bring the pallet down to look at it. I tried several monoculars but none focused close enough for me to read the fine print on a label that's just 6 feet above my head.

This scope allows me to read small print on something 20 feet away, so it saves me many minutes of climbing and forklift driving. It is now one of my many tools of my job.

I recommend this scope for anyone who needs this type of capability.
